My Brother’s Keeper

This leadership program for men of color strives to build excellence in four key areas: personal development; academic excellence; professional preparation and civic engagement; and meaning, 目的, and leaving a legacy. 事件 include leadership retreats, meetings with corporate leaders and business owners, workshops on internships, 工作见习, presentations from community leaders such as CEOs, 牧师, 教授, 政客们, community organizers, social justice advocates, 等.

Cultural Field Trips

Trips introduce Carthage students to diverse communities, help them visit important organizations in each community, and allow them to enjoy an authentic meal in each community we visit. Special attention is paid to the history of social justice movements in each community. Past visits have included trips to Pilsen, 唐人街, 华盛顿公园, and Lakeview in Chicago, and the Illinois Holocaust Museum in Skokie.

Films with a Purpose

This film series presents important documentaries highlighting important historical and contemporary social justice issues. Discussions follow each film. Past films have included “Freedom Riders,“猛光”,2月1日,” “I Am Not Your Negro,” “13th,” and “The Laramie Project.”

Soup for the Soul / Art for the Soul Social Justice Series

汤的! This social justice series provides a space for students to come together to discuss a social justice topic and participate in art activities to celebrate the current cultural month. The 订婚 and 包含中心 has previously held an Art for the Soul event to celebrate 拉美裔 Heritage Month, where students painted and drew while celebrating 拉美裔 heritage, and a Soup for the Soul event, where students learned about this year’s election candidates and the local referendums.

75 Years of Black Excellence at Carthage

January 2021-January 2022
In 1946, Lorraine Wiggan ’46 became the first Black graduate of Carthage, opening the doors for the next 75 years of Carthage’s history to unfold and to include Black excellence in all aspects of Carthage life. In 2021, we will collaborate with current students, our Black Student Union, and Carthage’s Black alumni network to celebrate this anniversary with programs throughout the year, including a weekend full of events during 首页coming in the fall. Caf收购

bv伟德ios下载这里, we like to show our respect and appreciation for different cultures by making Caf Takeovers, where we take different cultures and pick different foods from that culture and serve them.  Join us every 2nd Wednesday of the week to celebrate different cultural foods in the Caf. 

October 11th, November 8th, December 6th, Febuary7th, March 13th, April 10th, May 8th.
